Fighting ALS Together

On April 10, 2026, Todd and Doris, along with family and a few close friends, had the privilege of visiting with researchers from the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS at he Mass General Institute for Neurodegenerative Disease in Charlestown, Massachusetts. Our visit gave us the opportunity to learn more about the vital work being done to better understand ALS and, ultimately, find a cure.

We were warmly welcomed and guided through the facilities by Ghazaleh Sadri-Vakili, PhD, a renowned scientist whose research focuses on understanding the causes of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly ALS and Huntington’s disease. Her work also explores and develops potential therapies for these devastating conditions.

The visit was both meaningful and inspiring. We were given a closer look at the dedicated researchers, innovative science, and extraordinary commitment behind the ongoing fight against ALS and other neurodegenerative diseases. We were even given the opportunity to see and touch actual brain tissue, offering us a small glimpse into the complex and fascinating work taking place in the laboratory.

We left with an even deeper appreciation for the scientists and researchers who dedicate their lives to finding answers and developing treatments for people they may never know personally, but whose lives may one day be changed because of their work.

It is because of this commitment to advancing ALS research and bringing hope to families affected by ALS that the Ahlsten Foundation is proud to support the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS.
